What is Marketing?
Marketing it is a process that involves finding strategies that it becomes appealing to customers who will eventually buy it.
Needs are things people couldn't live without, such as food, water, clothing.
Wants are desires, is something we don't need to live but we are happy if we have it
Demand is something a person desires and has the money to pay for
The recipe for a successful marketing approach should focus on the understanding of who its customers are and what influences their choice
The focus of market research is 5 main areas:
research into markets
products
promotion
distribution
pricing
Research into markets is studying the size of market. For example how many products are sold and whether the demand for the product is increasing or decreasing.
Research into products => Another issue to consider is the market trends. Which products are easy to sell and which are difficult to sell.
Research into promotion => Promotion is a key aspect too: what are the best promotional means for a certain product. Should we advertise it to TV, radio, magazines or is the internet the best shopping window.
Research into distribution this is focuses on the distribution methods and tries to answer the questions: where would a product sell best? Shops, fairs, online, through mail-order catalogues, sales letters?
Research into pricing => Companies should consider the pricing policies for the product on the market, so how much do competitors' products cost? Are the prices for similar products increasing or decreasing?
